Nexus Kenosis - Elsewhen
The legendary EBM terrorian Henrik Nordvargr Björkk is back with his new project called Nexus Kenosis on Progress Productions out of Sweden. He is the frontman known for the raging old school electro beats of Pouppée Fabrikk and the dark ambient experimental projects MZ412 and Nordvargr. Perhaps by the very meaning of Nexus Kenosis this where all of Henrik's projects and influences come together to create something new while remembering the past and marking the next chapter in his music's evolution.
Nexus Kenosis is very successful in capturing a wide variety styles and blending and manipulating them into 11 tracks that could very well be the soundtrack to something very sinister. Listening to 'Elsewhen' may evoke visions of unauthorized medical experiments, dark corridors, abandoned buildings, asylums, helplessness, solitude and torture.
"Future Divided", "The Third Arrival", "Fire Solenoide 1" and "Awaiting Salvation" represent the Skinny Puppyish electro-industrial side of 'Elsewhen'. The vocals are heavily distorted and are well blended into the composition so it does not call attention away from the music. The rest of album delves into the more ambient and experimental realms.
Nexus Kenosis is a peregrination into the limitless pathways and possibilities of musical creation with brief moments of tranquility that are quickly extinguished with chaos and aggression.
This is solid offering worthy of any collection. There is more than enough here to please those who enjoy varying styles and the darker delights of electronic music. Oct 02 2012
