Virus (2012)
Dark Electro, Industrial |
|
The first track "Virus/Decay", has a beautiful synth start, some great pop sounds with a good drum beat continuing into vocals. The vocals conjure in my mind that they are being sung by an evil dwarf, or Rumpelstiltskin type character. It all works well anyway, and the track has enough variation to keep my attention. What is this Industrial-Horrorpop, well I think it's obvious I like it anyway. In short "It Burns"!
"Candies Are The Devil's Drug" makes an immediate impact, a combination and mix of sounds from industrial to pop music, with a stomping low key almost tribal dance beat. Also contains some good synths. The vocals I was not sure of at first due to their level, but after several plays I believe if they were not as they were they would take too much away from all the other great sounds. I think it's the tribal feel that makes me think 70's and John Kongos when I hear this.
"Sex Slave" is once again a very different track, maybe more horror film track material. I like the eerie sexual samples, I won't go into what this conjures up in my mind, let's just leave that to the individual. Whether you appreciate the theme of the track or not, it contains some great percussion sounds, and overall it is more experimental but still retains a melody.
In conclusion, three good tracks for fans of Dark Electro and Industrial music, but I would encourage anyone who likes a little horror to give it a go, it's a free download anyway. I hope these guys pick up a lot of fans through this release. Shame it's only three tracks, but at least they are good ones. To finish I also find the production all done by Anton is excellent, which is paramount to feeling the overall horror effect of the EP.
