Warsickle - Kellerklang
Warsickle is a Czech EBM band which consists of one man known as Vanson (keys, vocals, programming, lyrics). Started in 2003, Warsickle has a couple full length releases under his belt. Along with a couple of singles, he has been playing live for some time now and is continuing to do so.
Previously, his music has been described as grind electro metal (Into the Battle) and all the permutations that go along with that. The 'Brutal Fusion' album has was considered to be more slow-beat Electro and was released in small numbers in 2005.
Warsickle's first live show was in 2010 as was the release of 'MMXII'. Also in the same year a split record with Krytoboys was released and followed in 2012 with 'Corrupotocracy' and 'Call for Help'.
I give you all this information because this four track EP is less than exciting and yet someone might be interested enough to go and have a listen to the back catalogue such as it is. It is uninspiring at best.
The EP starts with "Burn the Bridge" which in itself is an ok track. The second track "Personal Whore" has a moment or two. The third track is just terrible. "Cacophony" has the most irritating vocals I have heard to date. Small baby guttural growling whisper thing in a high pitch. The last track "Omniatempushabent" is probably the best track on the EP as it is an instrumental.
Now all this is something I could and can deal with and move on and encourage and hope for better. But there is one thing, just one thing, but it is a large thing, that makes this EP for me just plain terrible and in effect, lazy.
Every sound I hear on this EP, is a FLStudio preset. Every sound. And, not a preset that's been played with or manipulated, but, the direct preset. And I know this because I went through my FLStudio and found them. OK, to be fair there might have been some effects thrown across the top of them but in reality, it's the presets. And that to me, from an artist of some years, disappoints me.
I hope the previous work is better than this but in all honesty I cannot be bothered to find out. The only thing I can think of to recommend this EP is to say that if you are new to FLStudio then this is what the presets sound like in a song with vocals. Aug 08 2013

Dj Wolf
info@brutalresonance.comI've been DJing for 30+ years and been lucky to have done Dj support for Assemblage 23, Grendel, Nachtmahr, Shiv-r, Psyche, Icon Of Coil, among others.
As Digital Anodyne I've written and remixed, Retrogramme, Leaether Strip, Rational Youth, Psyche, Pluvio, Arkyus and so forth.
I'm a music fan of electronic music with a thirst to hear new music as often as possible. Writing for Brutal Resonance for the last 5 years gives me the opportunity to share that passion.
