Unlike Synthpop Vision Talk A lot of things have happened since 2010 when they released 'Elevation', an album I did not care much for. They have signed with Conzoom Records and Karin Hallberg has joined the band. Have the changes stirred up some swirls in the otherwise pretty calm water? 'Unlike' is a strong synthpop track, but it still borders on the edge of being generic. It is surely a step in the right direction, but I still wish for it to be more dynamic and ever changing. However, the melodies are strong, the vocals are good enough and it all has a nice smell of Eau de 80's, even more so in the remix by Parralox. Where things truly shine though is in the B-side "The Loner (F.P Mix)". No matter how you see it, Karin is the superior singer and she has a beautiful voice, even though I think that Richard does better vocals in this one as well. The music and melodies are haunting in a way I appreciate and the mellow and somewhat blue melody is spot on. The Arachnophobia remix is possibly even better, with an amazing beat, giving it a more modern touch. Vision Talk sometimes seems to walk in an already beaten path, but they are heading in the right direction and I hope they are able to fresh it up a bit with their upcoming album 'Distances'. I suggest giving Karin more room though; she's way too good of a singer to be background fill out. 450
