Various Artists - Scream From Darkness
Dark Like Hell is an industrial hardcore label from Israel which focuses on the more darker sounds in the industrial hardcore spectrum. Doomcore, darkcore, doomtechno, that kind of stuff. Dark Like Hell mostly release EP's but for the 25th release the label decided to release a double album in two parts. A "Dark" edition and a "Hell" edition.
Both albums have a very varied sound from all different artists, and all tracks are pleasant to listen to. They range from more dark technoish to violent hardcore and even hint on EBM. Though the majority is typical doomcore with the deep bassdrums and eerie atmospheres. Interesting are the more moombahton rhythmns from album openers Shari DeLorian and Neptunium. Just A Pilgrim is already known for his deep, slow and dark doomcore and does what he is good at on "Boulevard meiner Langeweile". Scare the dancefloor into submission.
Interesting is "Tech Care" by Tricksters which has a EBM/TBM sound not far from Terence Fixmer his older material. EBM on this compilation is not that weird, seeing that labelowner Costa Ivanzov is also one of the people behind Your Bunny Rot.
Other price tracks on this compilation are "Signals" by ND Vidual who already had released a great EP on Dark Like Hell some time back. On the "Hell" part of the compilation the sound goes a bit more towards hardcore and darkcore with higher tempo's. Audio Revolt and Moleculez team up for "Dead To You", an excellent dancefloor smasher. In the same vein we also find "Strange Connection" by Synaptic Memories. "Be Afraid" from DNE is indeed a track to be afraid of. Hard beats and at least 170 BPM. Another stand out track is "The Stratosphere" from Japan's doomers Succubus Helna.
Dark Like Hell delivers a good 16 track double album with the finest underground sound the label is known for. If you are into doom and darkcore and other sounds in the grey area between hardcore, industrial, EBM and gabba, better check this album out!
Mind that the two parts of this album seem to be sold separately from digital retailers! May 23 2014
