Thy Behest - The Hunt

Thy Behest is a Finnish, one-man darksynth / cyberpunk producer who has been steadily releasing singles since September of 2021. In September, November, and January respectfully has he released ‘The Awakening’, ‘Fractal Desires’, and ‘Destination’. It would take Thy Behest a couple of months before he returned, introducing the world to ‘The Hunt’, his latest single that also announces his plans to release his debut EP later this year.
‘The Hunt’ is a fun little number that should be able to get you amped up in no time. Thy Behest focuses on solid dark electro beats with a rapid dancefloor vibe. Like something out of a shoot’em’up or a fighting video game, the track is laced with guitar, mysterious synth vibes in the background, and a drum’n’bass beat that would make Tekken proud. If anything, it is a bit basic and sticks close to what’s safe without ever writing a unique identity to Thy Behest. It is an instrumental, but perhaps adding in some vocals (guest, or his own) would do the track justice. I also felt that track should have had a bit more bass involved rather than the soft pads present, but perhaps that’s just a personal taste.
Either way, ‘The Hunt’ does the job and got me bobbing. Again, it’s a bit basic, still fun, and shows that Thy Behest has some decent production skills. Six-and-a-half out of ten.
Off label
Official release released by the artist themselves without the backing of a label.

info@brutalresonance.comI've been writing for Brutal Resonance since November of 2012 and now serve as the editor-in-chief. I love the dark electronic underground and usually have too much to listen to at once but I love it. I am also an editor at Aggressive Deprivation, a digital/physical magazine since March of 2016. I support the scene as much as I can from my humble laptop.
