Genom Stormen EBM, Electro SPARK! First off, I would like to praise this release for being a true single. Nowadays it's always EP's with two tracks and eleven remixes you could not care less about. Here we got an a-side and a b-side and two remixes. Straight forward and simplicity in all its goodness. Furthermore, there's a real single in its psychical appearance as well, a real paper cover that all singles should be like. Now, let's leave the single aspect and head straight into Spark!'s first official release from Progress Productions. Like many alike me, before finding the amazing genre of EBM and harsh electronic music, I used to listen to Swedish punk rock like Charta 77, Coca Carola, Köttgrottorna and so on. Somehow Spark! reminds me of these bands. Probably the way the lyrics are written and the way Stefan sings. Of course there's no punk rock music to tag along with it, rather melodic old school EBM. Both ?Genom Stormen? and ?Tankens Mirakel? are superb tracks and I've been humming on them constantly lately. Even though you don't understand Swedish, I hope and think that the melodies and the feeling breaks through the language barriers, just like when us Swedes hear all the German bands. There's also to remixes from Project-X and Leaether Strip. Both giving the two tracks an unique touch in their own way, even though they have no chance upon the great original versions. First time I took the time and effort to listen to Spark! and I simply can't wait for their official debut album. Hope it will be soon. 550
