Schwarzes Fragment - Seelenkiller
What the hell happened here? Before I got this promo, I've seen and heard Schwarzes Fragment's video "The Lack of Yourself" and in that song, the vocals where pretty cool, rumbling kind of dark thing. This is NOT what's going on in their album 'Seelenkiller' from last summer.
To be fair, I've actually often never get past the fifth song, after that, I simply can't take it anymore. The vocals are so terrible and off key, I, as a listener, get embraced. In some tracks, it's actually pretty alright, but then again, there are choruses like on the third track "Borderline Syndrome". The music on the other hand is good and does its job great, so it sure has some potential. The instrumental parts are what keep this release to really hit the rock bottom.
I would say that the success of this project is all about shaping up the vocals that are often way below average. In all fairness, this is a live or die matter for this band. Fix it, else, I have a hard time to see Schwarzes Fragment gaining any ground. Feb 01 2011
