The Mechanical Renaissance Dark Electro, Harsh EBM Psyborg Corp. Call me crazy but, Psyborg Corp. is a new band to me, I had never heard of them until my partner in crime Patrik asked me if I wanted to do a review of them. I didn't expect much of this band cause lately there haven't been that many good release in my opinion. I was a bit surprised after I started listening to "The Mechanical Renaissance", okay, I have to admit I had to listen through it a couple of times before really understanding that this was a pretty good album. I don't know what to describe it as, it's like aggrotech combined with Dope Stars Inc, but without the guitars (I know what you're thinking, what is Dope Stars Inc without guitars?) but still I can relate a bit to them anyway. Psyborg Corp. is really fast and aggressive combined with melodies and sing/screaming vocals with a lot of effects which sounds really good. My choice of songs on this album is "Technocracy" which is wonderful fast and melodic and just sucks me in. It is followed by "Biopunk Lab" which is a bit slower, but has a really nice melody and beat. Last but not least, "Nanotech and The Grey Goo Rep" which is really aggressive. This album sounds good overall and it's a nice addition to the other similar styles out there. The only problem is that I feel it's lacking that little extra and some tracks tend to be a bit too repetitive. Kind of like being stuck in a loop. 450
