Sounds of Psychosis Harsh EBM Electric Breathing Some acts seem to exist solely to cause discussion. Since 2010's "Adrenochrome", and an earlier demo and EP, German act Electric Breathing has caused a huge stir. Sadly, due to lack of label, nothings really come of Defcon-1's project, and it is with great Irony that more people know the project due to this upcoming release then they do anything else. Fans of earlier releases may recognise one or two tracks, and it is excellent to hear what was already well polished and excellent fast-paced Electro, with an extra sheen of label quality production. We open with "Chaos", which I have already heard on the EP of the same name. With the extra production, the sound here is just sensational! The whole Electric Breathing concept is to make the highest quality of fast paced Aggrotech (there's that term again...), with sick lyrics, and extremely dance-able synths. I'm furious at the stale mindset of people in this scene. Why does a band automatically suck if they sound like Hocico or other Industrial bands? I don't know if people have noticed, but there are no original bands in this niche genre anymore. You might as well accuse all Metal bands of ripping off Black Sabbath. It takes 30 seconds of playing almost any track on this release to get people interested, and I've had people actually phone me, and say "Oh My God, this is Incredible". On paper, there is nothing to say that this will blow you away, the track titles are short and sweet, but exactly what you'd expect from Harsh EBM. Electric Breathing has a knack of making every track sound absolutely unique, and not many bands in this genre can have you identify a song immediately. One reason why I rate this so highly is the amount of new material, despite being a band with so much of a back catalogue. "Chaos" is effectively a new track, and the only other existing track on here is "Zerfall", which is a new track anyway (released on the label sampler "Face The Darkness"). Tracks like "Killer Instinct", with the excellent lyrics, and tune that sounds like a Robot dancing it's legs off are an Epitaph to the craft of Defcon-1, and "Dead Body Erection" and the earlier "Fuck My Wound" are just the nail in the coffin of lesser bands. As if that wasn't enough, let's throw in an appearance from Project Rotten. Thanks! Fuck the haters. Candidate for album of the year. 450
