Ekobrottsmyndigheten - Alla Tiders Bodykalas
My qualified guess is that most of you never ever heard of Ekobrottsmyndigheten. What started out as a giggle as they had an ironic/sarcastic approach to the Old School EBM genre with tracks like "Totally EJBEÄM" has strangely enough evolved to something else. It's still with a lot of more or less comedic samples (The sample from Jönssonligan is my absolute favourite by the way) and lyrics about beer and EBM, but I can sense that somewhere along they way, they wanted to go one step further.
My favourite tracks are what seems to be the more recent tracks with a bit more serious approach, even though they manage to keep the unserious parts we love somewhat intact, but not as their primary objective. I really enjoy tracks like "... och köper öl", "Steam and Heat", "Män av stål" and my absolute favourite is "Extremsport". And yes, "Totally EJBEÄM" is still as charming as ever.
The production value is pretty alright for being an off label release in just a few copies, there's some work that could be done, but it's not an issue. I must admit that I'm pretty impressed that they took the time and money to release this as a hard copy release. Well done.
I feel that Ekobrottsmyndigheten have reached a waypoint, will they continue to make us giggle, or will they get a bit more serious and by making that decision make them a bit more vulnerable? I guess time will tell, but I'm quite sure that they might succeed with the later mentioned option. Jul 13 2010
