Denial Waits - My Dark Road
In case you missed the premiere for Denial Waits' phenomenal music video and debut single 'Father/Me', I strongly recommend that you click on this hyperlink to watch a brilliant low-budget production from the downtempo project. Formed by the trio Friendly Timo, Ryan Thomas Mitchell, and Amanda Jay, Denial Waits started their journey in February of 2021 with the previously mentioned single. Two months later, they released a remix album featuring the likes of Survey Channel, BlakLight, Ex-Hyena, Control I'm Here, Pleasure Policy, Blood Handsome, Jackson VanHorn, and Aggressive Squirrel. The extravagant remix EP has led us to this point in time, with Denial Waits releasing their second single 'My Dark Road'.
'My Dark Road' is an ambient backed, chill-out track. Piano keys roll in a gorgeous fashion as Amanda Jay's chords take the center stage; they're clear and concise, and hold well against the music. They are not abrasive nor do they attempt to go against the beat; rather, they flow down the river with it. Backing vocals are utilized well on this track, as soft percussion gives a slight kick to the beat. If 'Father/Me' was supposed to be the introductory track that gave us a glimpse at everyone's talent, 'My Dark Road' is the track that allows for Jay's chords to shine. It's serene and beautiful and I would have it no other way.
While there's not much more I can say about the single, I can say that Denial Wait's future is looking bright. They've released two strong songs so far and they've maintained a level of quality across both of them. While still in their early stages, I'm looking forward to what they do next. Seven and a half out of ten!

info@brutalresonance.comI've been writing for Brutal Resonance since November of 2012 and now serve as the editor-in-chief. I love the dark electronic underground and usually have too much to listen to at once but I love it. I am also an editor at Aggressive Deprivation, a digital/physical magazine since March of 2016. I support the scene as much as I can from my humble laptop.
