Controlled Collapse - Distorted Dreams
Controlled Collapse is back again with a brand new EP called 'Distorted Dreams' and basically it's the usual thing you get with a EP, half of them are new tracks and the other half is remixes (in most cases the remixes are more or less crap and maybe 1 out of 5 are good), but wait, in this case it's a bit different to be honest.
There are actually two remixes on this EP that are very different and very interesting. None of them are actually what I would call electro or industrial. The first one is "Prisoner (R010RZD)" which is almost a dubstep cover, or at least in my ears closely resembles too. It's a pretty damn good version with a nice beat and interesting glitching.
The next one is called "Have You Ever... (Remixed By Switchface)" and has a more drum and bass hands on approach with a lot of focus on the vocals and drums, with a nice simple melody in between.
Out of the three original tracks on this release I think my favorite one is "Monster" which is pretty straight forward track with a mix of electro and a bit of metal/rock. The other two tracks "History" and "Beg for your life" are more dark and moody with a very creepy atmosphere.
This is a pretty solid release, but I must admit I liked their last full-length ablum a lot more than this EP. It could be because of the remix choices, or just the fact that I wanted something more.
In the end it's not bad and it is still different to a lot of music you see out there these days, especially in this grenre. Jan 26 2012
