IIOIOIOII Signs With Analogue Trash
IIOIOIOII (pronounced "I.O."), the one-man industrial synthpop project helmed by Charlotte, North Carolina-based Christopher Gurney, announced yesterday that he has signed with the UK label AnalogueTrash Records, which will handle the European release of his upcoming EP, Post Brimstone, as well as his yet-to-be-titled third album. The 29-minute EP, which will be released June 22nd, contains five bittersweet, downtempo synthwave tracks, and can be pre-ordered at TrashDigital for £3 or more. Tracks include: "Face Them All," "We Are the One," "Second Chance," "One Moment," and "Until There's Nothing Left of Us."
Formed in 2012, IIOIOIOII self-released an EP, IIO, and an album, Reflect, before signing with the now-defunct Juggernaut Music Group and releasing a second EP, Rising Sky/Stardust, and a second album, Sun, which was voted Brutal Resonance's third-favorite album of 2013. Gurney stayed busy in 2014, collaborating with Citizen 16 on the track "M80" from their second album, Temptation; covering Sebadoh's "Brand New Love," Nine Inch Nails' "Every Day is Exactly the Same," and Lorde's "Tennis Court"; doing remixes for Pittersplatter ("Frozen" from Frozen: Reign of the Warlock), Mr.Kitty ("Insects" from Life, Deluxe Edition), Avarice in Audio ("Sleepwalking Societies" from their debut album, Shine & Burn), and Asheville, North Carolina's Stereospread ("The Fire"); designing the cover of the European edition of Kevorkian Death Cycle's God am I; and contributing the track "Donkey Kong Country (Aquatic Ambience)" to Digital Recovery's Electrogenesis, Vol. 1, an artist-organized charity compilation of classic video game songs to benefit Sick Kid's Childre's Hospital in Toronto and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
