Chicago’s Cold Waves Festival recently uploaded the first episode of Soundcheck, a nine-part interview series with some of the bands that will be performing this year at Metro (3730 N. Clark St.) on September 25th and 26th. The first episode features Tristan Shone of Author+Punisher, whose new album Melk En Honing was released June 30th via Housecore Records. New episodes of the podcast, created and produced by Aaron Pollak, will be posted every Wednesday in July and August. This year’s line-up includes Godflesh, Lustmord, Lead Into Gold, Author+Punisher, Prurient, Lab Report, and Two From the Eye on Friday, September 25th, and Front Line Assembly, Pop Will Eat Itself, Severed Heads, Cocksure, High-Functioning Flesh, Rorschach Test, and Human Traffic on Saturday, September 26th. A pre-party will kick off Cold Waves IV Thursday night at 8 p.m. at Double Door (1572 N. Milwaukee Ave.), where Acumen Nation will give a full performance of Transmissions From Eville. Rabbit Junk and Die Sektor are also slated to perform.

The Cold Waves Festival, produced by Cracknation Records, began in 2012 as a memorial concert for former Acumen Nation guitarist and sound man, Jamie Duffy, and continues as an annual fundraiser for Hope For The Day, a local suicide prevention charity that uses music and art as deterrents. This year’s sponsors are Kuma’s Corner, which specializes in metal-themed burgers, and craft brewery Revolution Brewing
