We have reached the borders of the Top 10 proper, and like it happened already in this list, I'm quite sure this album too would have ranked higher, among the best of the best, if the competition would not have been so fierce.

At #11 we find 'Hide And Seek', the new album from the Canadian synth/goth rockers THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE: and in fact, they owe their high ranking in my personal list to Daniel and Tim from Aesthetic Perfection, who just did a tour with them and would not stop posting on their personal Facebooks about how good the new songs were.

In all honesty, I admit I would not have bothered checking this new album out, if it wasn't for their constant musings for over two weeks: not because I don't like TBM, because I do... maybe they are not my favourite band, but I did consume their early demo back in, 2002 I think? "Horror Show" is still one my most played iTunes track. But while every subsequent release delivered the usual trademark sound and a good deal of great tunes, things started to feel all very "same-y" fast.

And in all honesty, it's not like "Hide And Seek" is anything groundbreaking, either: all those TBM sounds are still here. And you know what? They are still here because they are SO FUCKING GOOD. This album is just this addictive, you find yourself going back to it and hit the repeat button non-stop.

And with songs like "Calling", which is the new anthem of the band, and "Down" which shows us Chibi delivering a very aggressive, and unexpected, side of her singing, this album gives the listener all of what he came to find. And more.

Suggested listening: "Calling", "Down", "One Promise".
