Within the industrial and other underground scenes dark themes are always prevalent. This is no exception for the one-man-and-some-machines project Schkeuditzer Kreuz whose debut LP revolves around, as the artist stated, the feeling of hopelessness, despair, and isolation. These emotions have come up repeatedly throughout the past couple of years due to the state of the world and has been the center of focus in many musicians' and creative folks' minds. So, when the album was finally ready, founder Kieren decided to get his debut full-length album "Isolated and Alone" pressed over in China thinking nothing of the ordeal.

However, the raw synthpunk sounds and themes that erupt from "Isolated and Alone" proved too much for the authorities within the country. Thus, the vinyl that was pressed had been given an order of execution. The vinyl including the stampler plates and artwork were destroyed and never to be heard of again. Thankfully, open-minded individuals exist elsewhere in the world and the album did not die a horrible death. Being repressed locally in their home country of Australia, "Isolated and Alone" will see the light of day. Releasing in Australia on Bad Habit Records and Already Broken Records and in Europe on Pyrrhic Defeat Records, "Isolated and Alone" will be available on December 14th, 2021. And, what's more is that you can now check out the whole album below. Hit that play button.

I wrote 'Isolated and Alone' pretty much direct on the tail of the first EP – 'Give Me Nothing', which was released with an extensive tour of Eastern Australia in March 2021. At first, I was writing songs just to flesh out a set for touring, but I later refined and reworked them for recording and release. These 8 songs are the direction that Schkeuditzer Kreuz has been heading since the first record. Initially slated for an October release, unfortunately the authorities in the country where the record was pressed deemed the contents unfit for export so destroyed everything.

The sound of the record revolves around the feeling of hopelessness, despair, and isolation that has been so prevalent over the past couple years as the world has descended into a boiling mess of fear, mistrust, pain, and paranoia as the virus gives us a sneak peak of how our species will end itself. An expression of the mix of hostility and loneliness that we have all endured and which none of us felt prepared for. -Kieren

In support of the album, Schkeuditzer Kreuz will be touring through Australia in January, February, and March of 2022 with hopes of a European tour shortly thereafter.

I've been writing for Brutal Resonance since November of 2012 and now serve as the editor-in-chief. I love the dark electronic underground and usually have too much to listen to at once but I love it. I am also an editor at Aggressive Deprivation, a digital/physical magazine since March of 2016. I support the scene as much as I can from my humble laptop.
