Autodafeh is back with a new release called ’Re:lectro’ and it’s a full-packed EP or a pretty meagre album, depends on how you see it. I’m a big fan of old school EBM and Swedish EBM always get me interested and therefore this is a great opportunity to take a closer look at Autodafeh.

The thing about Oldschool is that you need to keep it aggressive and hard hitting, with so much monotone audio sphere and with the different sounds easily counted for; you need that special punch to keep the energy up and gets that blood boiling feeling in the combination with the rhythm and that is my main problem with Autodafeh.

The musical part is pretty good, I would like a bit more hit and stand out beats, but it sure has that 80’s Front 242 feeling to it and it is surely attractive. The vocals are not bad, but they sound a bit dazed off. I lack the riot screaming and aggressive voice that are able to force your legs to move, maybe it’s a mastering issue, I don’t know, but I do have this opinion about the final result.

My favourite tracks on the album are “Secret Ground” and “The Chase” and there are a bunch of other tracks with great potential, just like Autodafeh, but right now they don’t get all psyched out about it.
