The Offering (2012)
Industrial Rock |
|
Inure produce straight forward industrial rock with few surprises. The riffs may vary every once in a while, but are often mechanical and permanent in its layout. The same goes for the vocals, as they do not even vary much between this chorus and the verse, leaving it all feeling forceless.
I might be pushing things a bit too far, just to make my point, I really enjoy the chorus vocals on the "The Cell" and "This is Life", while "Rapture", "The Mind Killer" and "So Far Away" are all perfect examples of how you can be too static.
'The Offering' is the perfect example of an album being too good to be remembered as crap and too grey to be remembered as great. It secures its place in the twilight zone were all the albums I've rated 6 or 7 ends up, forever collecting dust. And if someone would ask me how the album was, my standard answer would be "I guess it was alright, I don't really remember how it was".
At least it finish off with the overly distorted "Cold", leaving you with a good feeling. Next time, please surprise me and make my eyebrows raise a few millimeters, at least.
