Schwarzer Sektor - Inherte Humanidad
This couldn't really have come at a better time. I'm currently championing the Latin American Dark Electro/Harsh EBM zine on various internet networks. Schwarzer Sektor is yet another act from Mexico, keen to follow on the heels of Hocico, C-Lekktor, and another 100 bands I care not to name.
This four track Demo is eagerly awaited by me, and I immediately expect to file it under "kick-ass bands from Mexico that get no love" - which is a huge, huge list.
Opening their account with "Agonia" is a great business decision. This says everything that Latin Electro says best - Immediately as good as the scene leaders. Maybe this is so good because I wasn't expecting it? A very good friend of mine told me that this band was simply "Shit". I forget who it was, but I'm sure he will remind me, so I can punch him in the fucking face.
It's going to take a lot to really be considered the "Cream of the Mexican Crop", but I'm already thinking that this band is at least up there with Acid Trauma, Anamadim, and Cold Sequence.
There ARE issues here - production is pretty good, vocals are acceptable (but too low in the mix). Additionally, songs have a tendency to be a little TOO simple. This might well appeal to fans of Vondage, for example - brand new Mexican bands with a great potential, but very little PR, and not enough help out there. I've seen so many Mexican bands come out, release amazing songs, then disband without an official release, or demo - D.E. Life being one, and Evil's Evangelist (Cold Sequence side project) being another.
"Impunidad" is a track designed for those fast-paced Dark Electro fans, with a great bassbeat, and some really sweet synth work.
Finally, "No More Lies" is a sample-laden track, with the obligatory exclusive English title, and pounding bass.
This Demo is a SUCCESS, and there is no fucking reason why ANY of you shouldn't download it. It's on this site for FREE!
Sign them up! They're Mexican, they DON'T sound like Hocico, and they're bloody good. Jan 17 2011
