Love Like Lies EBM, Electro-Industrial Aesthetic Perfection Love Like Lies (Single) by Aesthetic PerfectionThe past single that Aesthetic Perfection released 'LAX' was a brilliant piece of work accompanied by an equally mesmerizing music video along with two very respectable remixes from the likes of Kanga and Mr.Kitty. With his now off-label status Aesthetic Perfection has marched forward with his second self-released single 'Love Like Lies'. This single has been slowly teased since around October when Daniel Graves started to tell fans to mark their calendars; needless to say his fans went nuts and were eagerly anticipating the producer's latest song. It was later on that the single would slowly unravel for the people and a Limited Cassette run of one-hundred copies was announced. If you're thinking that you can possibly be one of the lucky few who can get their hands on a copy of the 'Love Like Lies' cassette, you will be saddened but not shocked to hear that the cassette has already sold out. There is also a music video currently being prepped for the single, so be sure to stay tuned for that as well. 'Love Like Lies' kicks off with a wickedly dark electronic beat with Graves' gritty vocals shouting "Hey!" over and over again. The beat softens a bit, but the rhythm remains steady as the much-controversial emo vocals of Graves break into the song. Again, I don't mind them at all, and the soft backing vocals behind his own chords is astonishing. The mix-up of harsh industrial electronics straight back to softer, pop oriented tones made the song personify the mind of a person's inner emotional struggles. The bells, though not often used in the song, were also heavenly. Bells are always good. Always. For the single Graves tapped into a few lesser known musician who are also very, very talented nonetheless. The first of which would be Saint Petersburg based witch house/ambient musician CHVRN. This remix is one of the best produced witch house sounding songs I have ever heard in my life. In that scene, shit audio quality is praised for one reason or another; maybe it's just for the aesthetic of it all or just an excuse for bedroom producers to get away with making bad music without admitting they don't know what they're doing. Either way, CHVRN crafted a clubby, witchy track with a ghostly ambiance throughout. Well done. London based hard electro artist Mxd_Bld was the second remixer featured on the single. His remix took a crunchier approach, almost crafting the song into an EBM stomper with more grit than normal. Graves' vocals were intertwined some classic harsh electro distortion. With that included 'Love Like Lies' gained another good remix. The last remix came from electronic/indie trio auto-auto. They stripped the song of most of its harsh elements and made an electro-acoustic ballad out of 'Love Like Lies'. Piano, extremely soft percussion, and excellent use of chilling electro elements ended the single off with a comforting movement. With another single out - or soon to be out as the single's official release date is December 2nd - Daniel Graves once again shows his teeth. The single is engaging, dramatic, and properly mixes industrial and pop together with an utmost attention to detail. The remixes on the single help extend its value and length. While each remixer did a fantastic job I can't help finding myself back to CHVRN's excellent witchhouse take on 'Love Like Lies'. A great single with great remixes - there's not much more you can ask for. Two thumbs up to Aesthetic Perfection!  450

I've been writing for Brutal Resonance since November of 2012 and now serve as the editor-in-chief. I love the dark electronic underground and usually have too much to listen to at once but I love it. I am also an editor at Aggressive Deprivation, a digital/physical magazine since March of 2016. I support the scene as much as I can from my humble laptop.
