A Shot and a Bassline EBM, Futurepop Glis 'A Shot and a Bassline' is the latest album released by American band Glis. It's an anthology of re-worked tracks from 2001-2008. The first song "Nightvision" reminds me quite a bit of the band Angels and Agony both on the vocal parts and also in the pumping drumbeats which along side the nice melodies form a lovely song. Following close by is the track "My Machine" which sounds really happy except for the few vocals that are really distorted and low and sound really ...um... weird? "High Dreamer" is a real party track which doesn't add anything new but it's still a good song, I like the parts where they use both male and female vocals that sing against each other, the only problem here is that the female vocals isn't really that great and they sound a bit false. 'A Shot and a Bassline' is a mix of electro/trance/techno and so on, and it really is a good album with variety in the songs, pumping beats, moving melodies and different vocals both male and female. If you like bands like VNV Nation, Angels and Agony, and Icon of Coil this is the album for you. 450
