Filament 38 - Unstable
Filament 38 from Cleveland, USA, was priory a new band for me with a release from 2002, 'Fractured', and have also been support to Front 242 during their days, but after their new release 'Unstable' I have welcomed this band with opened arms. Unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to hear this bands first product, but according to the reviews I've read about the album I got the feeling that it lacked of power all the way through, something that defiantly have changed with this new release.
The music reminds you of something like E-Craft during their era with the album ''Electrocution'' mixed with classic, heavy EBM which tends to be alike our Swedish act Project-X and German [:SITD:]. The album opens with rumbling "Contempt" along with "Dissect (Infekt)" and later with some higher loops in "Interface". In this way the journey throughout the album continues with powerful tracks like "Uplink (TerraMachina)", "The Cold Process" and least the refrain "Control or be controlled" from the song "Suffocate" which I have been humming on since the first time I heard the album.
A really steady release filled with great tracks for the ones that are interested in heavy EBM. If you enjoy E-Craft, [:SITD:], Project-X and similar acts, this band is absolutely something for you.
