Antoni Maiovvi - Seasons In Hell
Antoni Maiovvi is the name Anton Maiof (co-founder of Giallo Disco Records) gave himself for his solo project. The German based producer is a skilled man set about making what he refers to as horror disco which, in turn, I refer to as fucking kick ass music. Just recently Maiovvi released a new doubly 7" single via the new independent record label Castles In Space. The record label itself is home to more than one oddball electronic group, focusing on crafting beautiful physical products to go along with the albums they release.
And, in the case of Maiovvi's "Seasons In Hell", the physical product matches the majesty of the music. 'British Summer' is a smooth electro ride with quite a soft and lovely EBM flowing through it. The synth that's layered over all other electronic pulses in the song is quite catchy. 'Missing' is a more ominous song, playing off spooky crushed sounds as well as very well done piano keys. 'Russian Winter' plays much more closer to Maiovvi's groovy electro-disco tunes, but still keeps a retro-eighties sound alive. Lastly, 'Thalassa' is a lovely little alternative dance song. Still strung with light synths and the like, this final electro song keeps the music gorgeous till the very last second.
Now, if the music and the beauty of the records themselves don't entice you to buy this record, than perhaps the cheap price will. The records only cost in total around 22 USD including shipping, and that's a fucking value.
With great electro-disco from the mad mind of Antoni Maiovvi, "Seasons In Hell" is a glorious four track EP whose ride is enticing, relaxing, and groovy.

info@brutalresonance.comI've been writing for Brutal Resonance since November of 2012 and now serve as the editor-in-chief. I love the dark electronic underground and usually have too much to listen to at once but I love it. I am also an editor at Aggressive Deprivation, a digital/physical magazine since March of 2016. I support the scene as much as I can from my humble laptop.
