Hello everyone.

Over the last year, you'll have no doubt seen a dozen or so names that have contributed to the site and disappeared into obscurity. For various reasons, we are taking on people, and end up with them being unable to fulfil their commitments.

Unfortunately, these things happen, and we would like to thank everyone who has been part of our staff for their valuable and entertaining contributions.

However, the situation we are now in is increasingly critical. We currently have just Four full-time writers, two of whom are focused predominantly on the more eclectic side of Industrial (Thanks Andrew and Peter - your work is absolutely fantastic). This leaves just Nick, and Patrik to cover Dark Electro, Harsh EBM, IDM, Synthpop, Futurepop, Electro-Industrial, and at least a dozen other genres. As you can imagine, this won't be retainable forever, and as both Nick and Patrik work full time and have family commitments, bands are sometimes having to wait for over three months for their articles to be honoured. In rare cases, some bands are being contacted and informed that we are unable to feature them.

Brutal Resonance is attracting over five times the audience it was in October 2010, and for an e-zine of this size, we need to have at least eight or nine people on board.

Therefore, we need to ask you, officially, to help us out. Most of you reading this site will either have aspirations of being a writer for a music magazine, or will know someone who might be interested. PLEASE, do not sit on that - you could be the difference between us being here in a year or not.

It doesn't matter if you haven't done it before. None of us were born with a pen in our hands, and believe me; none of us are know-it-alls. All we are looking for is people with a keen interest in any of the genres we cover (Industrial, Synthpop, EBM, Ambient, and associated genres).

That dedication is what makes a good music journalist, and the ability to write a good review flows very easily. On top of that, we will help you, give you tips, and ensure that you get from this what you are seeking.

We don't really make any money from the zine, so you won't be paid for it, unfortunately, but there is
a wide spectrum of benefits.

These include:
- Building up a good reputation with bands and labels, and helping your scene stay alive

- Free music! We will send you things to review, BUT we don't tie you down - you are free to contact any band, or any label of your choosing, and ask if they can send you material to review. As we are an established zine, most will recognise us,and you'll find yourself getting new releases (and sometimes older ones) for absolutely free, in receipt of a review. Often, you'll get actual CDs, too.

- Personal pride. Believe us, there is nothing more humbling than having an artist who you have grown up, or followed for a long time contact you, express admiration, and ask for a chat or interview.

- Monopolisation. All zines have different personalities among their roster, and it is not uncommon for a label or band to refuse to send promo material to anyone other than YOU, or your zine. It's a nice feeling to have sole trust of a musician, and the gratitude you get for helping them can often be repaid 10 times over.

- Many, many other benefits are available, and these will vary from writer to writer.

All we ask is that you can:
- Donate a couple of hours every now and them (around 2 days a week, although more is obviously great) to get things done.

- Trust and respect the music. No-one here is entitled to, or authorised to share, rip, trade, or pirate ANYTHING that is sent to us. The entire idea of the zine is to help keep the scene alive, and by stealing and betraying trust, you are failing to do that. We will act on this with the strongest of urgency.

- Be honest, and communicate with our Editors (Patrik and Nick) often, and discuss any issues or time constraints with us. We love people who tell us where we stand with them, and you'll do well in a non-judgemental, friendly environment.

To reiterate, we need your help, there's a generation of bright, intelligent fans of Industrial out there, and their voice deserves to be heard. We are offering you a platform, and you won't feel like you're in a working atmosphere with pressure or demands.

Shortly about us

Started in spring 2009, Brutal Resonance quickly grew from a Swedish based netzine into an established International zine of the highest standard.

We cover genres like Synthpop, EBM, Industrial, Dark Ambient, Neofolk, Darkwave, Noise and all their sub- and similar genres.
