It was only yesterday that a newcomer to the limelight entered the List, that we find yet another one today, and again a British band: can't you all tell that something is definitely brewing up in Albion?

At #16 it's the NEEDLE FAC7ORY debut album, 'Goetia'. Taking its name from the magickal practice of invoking angels and evoking demons, this album is a rollercoaster of sounds that capture the listener with two different souls: the first being the slow-tempo, haunting approach of songs such as "Blind" and "Kiss The Blade", very reminiscent of witch-house (the good kind), while the second being a club-oriented version of electrogoth/futurepop that seem to owe a lot to Sigue Sigue Sputnik, if they ever made futurepop, that is.

While both souls are enjoyable, I tend to prefer the darker approach, and definitely hope that in the future the band will give us more of that medicine. Let's be clear, I'm definitely going to spin "Tunnel Of Love" in my upcoming DJ sets, but while these are all great songs to dance to, the others are just good songs all over.

The initial invocation was definitely a success: I will keep my eyes peeled to see which demons will they manage to conjure next!

Suggested listening: "Blind", "Kiss The Blade", "Pleasure", "Tunnel Of Love", "Goetia".
